FCT, Abuja – Political analysts said Nigerians are the only endorsement President Bola Ahmed Tinubu needs to win the 2027 election.

The pundits stated this while reacting to President Tinubu’s endorsement by former federal lawmakers in Abeokuta, Ogun state capital.

They argued that political endorsements don’t necessarily translate to victory in elections.

As reported by Daily Trust, a political analyst, Aminu Yakudima, said endorsement is not an automatic ticket for Tinubu’s re-election in 2027.

He said former President Goodluck Jonathan was endorsed by many groups but ended up losing the 2015 elections.

“So this is not an automatic ticket that he (Tinubu) would be re-elected in 2027. Endorsements do not necessarily give an incumbent president victory in an election.”

Yakudima said the only way Tinubu can secure citizens’ votes for a second term is by delivering on his 2023 campaign promises to Nigerians.

“If the president is doing well, he doesn’t need endorsement from politicians, Nigerians will ask him to continue without hiccups.”

Another political analyst, Jackson Lekan Ojo, said Tinubu must make life better for Nigerians to win the 2027 election.

Ojo said Nigerians are tired of the former lawmakers who endorsed Tinubu, adding that they know that Tinubu’s government has failed to deliver on its campaign promises.

“The product they are marketing has added no value to Nigerians. The marketers, who are they? What have they contributed to the development of this country?”

A former member of the House of Representatives, Hon. Bernard Mikko, said said the endorsement is premature since the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) ihas not lifted the ban on political campaigns.

Miko argued that the endorsement serves as a morale booster for President Tinubu.

A former presidential candidate, Chief Chekwas Okorie, said that “the endorsement means nothing. It’s just political posturing.”
