President Bola Tinubu’s chances of returning to office in the 2027 presidential election have been observed to be expanding despite the coalition movement seeking to oust him in the poll.

The coalition, which was initially started by the former Vice President Atiku Abubakar, has gained momentum in recent times. It has been welcomed by other opposition leaders, including former presidential candidate of the Labour Party in the 2023 election, Peter Obi.

The movement recently adopted the African Democratic Congress (ADC) as its political platform ahead of the 2027 elections.

Binzak Azeez speaks on 2027 elections

However, the coalition has been considered too weak to defeat President Tinubu in the next election. Binzak Azeez, a legal practitioner, in an exclusive interview with Legit.ng, explained the best way the coalition can unseat the president in the next presidential poll.

According to Azeez, the coalition was yet to form that formidable alliance that was as strong as that of the pre-2015 presidential election that sacked former President Goodluck Jonathan and the Peoples Democratic Party in the poll.

The legal practitioner said:

“The chances that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu will retain power till 2031 keep increasing day in, day out. In my view, the only practical way to oust President Tinubu from office in the 2027 presidential election is the formation of a formidable alliance akin to the pre-2015 presidential journey.

“President Tinubu can only be defeated if the ADC, PDP and NNPP make an alliance. Besides the mega party coalition, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar, Mr. Peter Obi, and Dr. Rabiu Kwankwaso, who were the major opposition candidates in the 2023 presidential election, would have to genuinely work together.

“I don’t practically see the proposed alliance come to reality with the current state of Kwankwaso’s confusing stance, the PDP is planning to field a presidential candidate, and the body language of both Atiku and Obi portrays them as people who are only interested in running for the presidency and nothing else. With these fragmented factors, the 2027 presidential election is a smooth ride for President Tinubu.”

President Bola Tinubu has been said to have an edge above the coalition movement in the 2027 election.
