This sprawling manor will make allows up to 33 guests – so it’s really a perfect spot for a friends retreat.

The Lincolnshire house has a stunning gallery staircase and classic touches like an alcove ceiling, fireplaces, cosy armchairs and four poster beds.

It has modern touches too like a swim spa and cinema room. The games room has pool table, air hockey and various board games.

Watch Hill Manor House, East Devon

Watch Hill is a stunning manor house nestled in the heart of Budleigh Salterton on the Jurassic Coast with incredible views over the beach.

Not only does it give Downton Abbey vibes, but the home even featured in the 1986 Miss Marple film, Sleeping Murder.

There’s a tree-lined driveway on the approach to the massive house covered in ivy with huge windows and tall chimneys.

Inside is less classic though as it has been redesigned with light and airy rooms including an impressive reception and grand entrance hall.

The house sleeps 21 with nine spacious bedrooms over two floors – and incredible views over the gardens and sea.

Middleton Castle, Norfolk

You can even stay at Middleton Castle which is surrounded by its very own a moat and set within acres of rolling farmland in Norfolk.

It has a private driveway and can sleep up to 30 guests.

One of the most Downton-esque places is the dining room which has dark wood tables, panelled walls decorated with historic portraits.

The bedrooms have been designed with classic English wallpaper in tones of duck egg blue or soft pink.

There are some more surprising additions like the stuffed fox and macaw in one of the bathrooms.

Luxury Suffolk Mansion, Beccles

Just a short drive from Southwold is Ashmans Hall, a Grade II listed Romanesque Palladian mansion.

It’s set amongst parkland, woodland, and gardens in Beccles.

Features include a sweeping imperial staircases and domed ceiling of the entrance hall, art deco statuettes and a cosy oak-panelled snug.

Outside are manicured lawns and trimmed hedges, a great place for entertaining in the summer, or exploring all wrapped up during the winter months,

This Scottish castle looks most like Highclere Castle that’s used in Downton Abbey from it’s impressive exterior to the flag perched on top of the turret.

Inside, it’s been modernised, but still maintains its period grandeur with chandeliers, heavily patterned wallpaper, colourful curtains and a writing desk.

Kinnettles Mansion has eight large bedrooms, each very different and full of character.

The house that sleeps up to 16 guests is five minutes from St Andrews.

Beaufront Castle, Northumberland

The enormous Beaufront Castle sits high above the market towns of Hexham and Corbridge with views across the Tyne Valley.

Inside, guests can laze about in the drawing room and take in views of the valley from the huge windows.

The grand inner hallway has a dining space and billiards table for post dinner competitions.

There’s a large well-equipped kitchen and breakfast room where guests can either cook their own meals – or have the option to hire a caterer.

Hinwick House, Bedfordshire

This castle in a a hamlet in Bedfordshire was actually modelled on the original Buckingham Palace.

It’s set in 38 acres of magnificent parkland and would make a great stay for fans of history – 300 years since its construction, Hinwick House retains many of its original features.

It is also one of the largest collections of antique Persian rugs, with over 150 priceless rugs decorating the property.

There are also seven custom made grand chandeliers and period furniture includes pieces from the collection of Althorp, the original family home of Princess Diana.

Guests staying there can take advantage of the deer park, tennis court, play croquet on the lawn, have a barbeque, and clay pigeon shooting can be organised too.

On Airbnb, this home is in the top one per cent of the highest ranked based on ratings, reviews and reliability.
