A POWERFUL 7.4 magnitude earthquake rocked Russia’s east coast early this morning.
It is the latest tremor to strike the region of Kamchatka in the country’s Far East.
A brief tsunami threat alert was issued following the quake, but was subsequently dropped.
The US Geological Survey reported the earthquake early on Saturday morning.
It comes just weeks after a mammoth 8.8 magnitude earthquake battered the same part of Russia in late July.
This major quake – one of the largest ever recorded – saw tsunami warnings put in place across the Pacific Rim.
