It comes after the duke’s visit to the UK which saw him reunite with his father, King Charles.

It was the first face-to-face meeting between the pair for more than a year.

After the visit Harry said that he would like to spend more time in the UK, saying the past weekend had “definitely brought that closer.”

It sparked rumours of a potential reunion with the royal family.

Speaking to the Guardian the duke said: “I know that (speaking out) annoys some people and it goes against the narrative.

“The book? It was a series of corrections to stories already out there.

“One point of view had been put out and it needed to be corrected.

“I don’t believe that I aired my dirty laundry in public.

“It was a difficult message, but I did it in the best way possible. My conscience is clear.

“It is not about revenge, it is about accountability.”

He participated in a discussion panel paying tribute to “the wives and mothers who keep their loved ones on the straight and narrow.”

The duke added: “They deserve as much respect as anyone who serves.”

Harry was invited to visit the besieged nation by the Ukrainian Government with his Invictus Games Foundation team.

He visited an orthopaedic clinic and rehabilitation centre for adults and children affected by the war in Ukraine.

When he was asked about advice for those leaving military service and who may miss the camaraderie Harry said: “You will feel lost at times, like you lack purpose, but however dark those days are, there is light at the end of the tunnel.

“You just need to look for it, because there will always be someone – a mother, father, sibling, friend, or comrade – there to pick you up.

“Don’t stay silent. Silence will hold you in the dark.

“Open up to your friends and family because in doing so you give them permission to do the same.”

During his visit to the war torn country he visited the minister for veteran affairs Natalia Kalmykova.

The pair discussed ways the Invictus Games Foundation can improve support for wounded and sick personnel and veterans left with life changing injuries.

In an announcement on Wednesday the Sussexes’ charitable foundation Archewell announced it had donated 500,000 US dollars, or £369,000, to projects supporting injured children from Gaza and Ukraine.

The grants will help the World Health Organisation with medical evacuations.

They will also fund work developing prosthetics for seriously injured youths.

On Sunday, the Duchess of Sussex, Meghan Markle, shared a picture on Instagram of two glasses of rose wine from her As Ever collection with the caption “when your beau is back in town”, which was thought to be a nod to Harry’s return to the US.

Why did Prince Harry and Meghan Markle step back as senior working royals?

PRINCE Harry has always wanted out of the Royal Family and the repercussions will be felt for years, an expert has claimed.

The Duke of Sussex has lived in California with his wife Meghan Markle since 2020 after they dramatically quit their jobs as working royals and moved across the pond.

Katie Nicholl, who is Vanity Fair’s royal correspondent, told The Sun’s Royal Exclusive show that Megxit did not come as a surprise to her.

Speaking to The Sun’s Royal Editor Matt Wilkinson, the commentator explained: “Anyone who knows Harry is aware he’s always wanted a way out of the Royal Family.

“He’s said multiple times on the record that he wished he’d never been born a prince.

“I think he really is living the life he wants to now. It’s very, very sad that it’s played out the way it has.”

In a statement made on the Sussexes’ Instagram account as they stepped back in 2020, the pair wrote: “After many months of reflection and internal discussions, we have chosen to make a transition this year in starting to carve out a progressive new role within this institution.

“We intend to step back as ‘senior’ members of the Royal Family and work to become financially independent, while continuing to fully support Her Majesty The Queen.

“It is with your encouragement, particularly over the last few years, that we feel prepared to make this adjustment.

“We now plan to balance our time between the United Kingdom and North America, continuing to honour our duty to The Queen, the Commonwealth, and our patronages.

“This geographic balance will enable us to raise our son with an appreciation for the royal tradition into which he was born, while also providing our family with the space to focus on the next chapter, including the launch of our new charitable entity.”
