Atiku wrote with accompanying pictures:

“I’m happy to have met him (Bafarawa) in such a hospitable condition and to have had quality discussions with him.”

Legit.ng reports that while Atiku is a member of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) coalition, Bafarawa is currently unattached.

It would be recalled that in early 2025, Bafarawa officially quit his membership of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Atiku’s former political platform.

The Sokoto politician conveyed his resignation in a letter dated January 13, 2025, which was addressed to Umar Damagum, the PDP acting national chairman.

Bafarawa stated that it was important for him to resign from the PDP “to avoid any potential conflict of interest that may arise from my political affiliations.”

He wrote:

“I write to formally tender my resignation as a member of the Peoples Democratic Party. This decision, though deeply personal and difficult, is borne out of my commitment to a new chapter of service that aligns with my vision of uplifting humanity through empowering the youth.”

In March, following rumours, Bafarawa denied joining the Social Democratic Party (SDP).

He described the information that went viral on social media platforms as false and misleading.

The former governor stressed that he has aligned himself with a grassroots development group after he purportedly excused himself from active partisan politics.
