INEC Releases Breakdown Of Online and In-Person Voters Registration

FCT, Abuja – The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has announced the latest figures of the ongoing nationwide online and in-person voter registration.

INEC said 4,445,505 Nigerians have pre-registered online in four weeks since the commencement of the exercise on August 18, 2025.

The Commission said 2,141,294 (48.17%) are male while 2,304,211 (51.83%) are female.

“As of Sunday 14th September 2025, a total of 4,445,505 Nigerians have now pre-registered online in four weeks since the commencement of the exercise on 18th August 2025.”

The National Commissioner and Chairman, Information & Voter Education Committee, Sam Olumekun said 2,924,643 (65.79%) are between the ages of 18 and 34 while 1,112,344 (25.02%) are students.

Olumekun made this known in a statement issued via INEC X handle @inecnigeria on Monday, September 15, 2025.

He further stated that the combined figures of the completed online pre-registration and the physical (in-person) registration is 509,929.

Giving a breakdown of the figures, Olumekun said 229,758 (45.06%) are male and 280,171 (54.94%) are female.

He noted that 378,132 (74.15%) are young people between the ages of 18 and 34 while 196,529 (38.54%) are students.

According to the statement, Osun state has the highest figure of 552, 045 representing 12.2%. Lagos state with 488,523 voters, which represents 10.99% and Borno state complete the top three with with 439, 426 voters, representing 9.88%

“The detailed distribution of both online and completed registrations by state, gender, age, occupation and disability have been uploaded to our website and other official platforms for public information.”

INEC records 72,274 physical registrations in 5 days

Recall that INEC recorded 72,274 physical voter registrations across six geopolitical zones within just five days.

The North-West region led the exercise with over 24,000 registrations, reflecting strong civic engagement ahead of future elections.

Physical registration in Anambra state was suspended due to preparations for its upcoming governorship poll.
