Breaking: Tinubu Cuts Short 2-Week Vacation, Details Emerge

The presidency has announced that President Bola Tinubu will be resuming earlier from his two-week vacation, adding that the president will be returning to the country on Monday, September 15.

Bayo Onanuga, the president’s special adviser on information and strategy, announced the development in a statement shared on his social media page earlier on Monday.

According to the statement, Tinubu would be resuming office officially on Tuesday, September 16, earlier than his expected resumption, which was supposed to be Thursday, September 18.

Onanuga explained that Tinubu left the country for France on September 4, planning to spend part of his holiday in the European country and the United Kingdom.

During his visit to France, Tinubu had a private luncheon with President Emmanuel Macron, where the two leaders reviewed the bilateral relationship between Nigeria and France.

How many times has Tinubu visited Macron

In June 2023, Tinubu visited Macron when he went to attend the Global Financial Pact Summit, hosted by the French president. The duo also met in January 2024 when the Nigerian leader was en route to an African Union summit.

They also met in August 2024 on a private visit, and in November of the same year, Tinubu was hosted in France on a two-day state visit, where Nigeria and France had bilateral talks.

Tinubu, who departed Nigeria on Thursday, September 4, for a 10-day annual leave, was said to be leaving the country for France and the United Kingdom.

Legit.ng earlier reported that President Bola Tinubu‘s administration has been accused of using the EFCC to intimidate opposition leaders in the country.

Former vice president Atiku Abubakar raised the allegation while hosting Aminu Tambuwal and Abubakar Malami.

Atiku’s allegation came days after the EFCC invited Tambuwal over alleged fraudulent cash withdrawals during his time as Sokoto governor.
