Adamawa Police Arrest Shop Owner for Alleged Violation of 14-Year-Old

The Adamawa State Police Command has arrested a 28-year-old shop owner, Aliyu Musa, for allegedly raping a 14-year-old girl in Mubi South Local Government Area.

The incident happened on September 11, 2025, when the teenager reportedly took shelter in Musa’s shop during a heavy rainstorm.

An eyewitness, who reported the matter to the police, said the girl entered the shop to escape the rain and asked to stay until the weather cleared.

“When the girl ran into Aliyu’s shop, she pleaded to stay for a while because it was raining and she could not go home in the rain. He accepted to help by offering her a seat,” the witness said.

The witness added that Musa later invited the girl into the inner section of the shop, claiming it was warmer inside.

“The young girl, being naive and feeling cold, agreed and went inside. Unknown to her, he had plans for raping her,” he said.

According to the eyewitness, Musa then forced himself on the girl after she refused to undress.

“He locked up the shop from inside where no one could access it,” the witness recounted.

“After the act, he tried to induce her with money and promised to buy her a mobile phone to conceal the unlawful act. When the rain stopped, he unlocked the shop and allowed her to leave.”

The girl emerged crying and narrated the ordeal, prompting the eyewitness to accompany her home and alert her parents.

Police react to incident

The police public relations officer SP Suleiman Yahaya Nguroje, told Legit.ng that:

“The police swiftly swung into action when the case was reported and they succeeded in arresting the suspect. He is currently undergoing investigations at the Crime Investigations Department of the state command headquarters, however, he has confessed to being guilty of the act.”

Nguroje further assured:

“After proper investigations, he will face legal action according to the law, because the crime he committed is unlawful and he must not go free.” The victim has been taken to the hospital for medical treatment and we hope she will recover soon from the trauma of sexual assault.”

He continued:

“The Commissioner of Police CP Dankombo Morris, has ordered for a discreet investigation and assured that the case will be diligently prosecuted to ensure justice is served.”

The CP strongly condemns any form of sexual abuse against children and calls on parents, guardians, and members of the public to always educate their children about personal safety, while also encouraging them to report any suspicious or criminal act without fear for the safety of the citizens of the state.
