Gunmen have abducted a National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) member and a 300-level student of the University of Jos after breaking into a residence in the Dong community of Jos North Local Government Area of Plateau State.
The victims were seized on Sunday night when armed men forced their way into the home of Mr. Solomon Dansura.

Man gives account of attack
Dasura confirmed the incident to journalists on Tuesday, explaining that the attack occurred just as the family was preparing to sleep. Dansura said he had barely settled in bed when he heard suspicious movements at a window and realized intruders were trying to enter.
He escaped through the back door to seek help, but by the time he returned, the assailants had taken his sister-in-law, an NYSC member serving in Bauchi, and her guest, a university student.
“It is a tragic experience because I have never experienced kidnapping,” Dansura said.
“My sister-in-law is a corps member serving in Bauchi and preparing for her wedding. The military and police came to the compound after the perpetrators had succeeded in kidnapping the victims. The kidnappers called this morning requesting for N50 million ransom. They said when they call the next time, I should have the money ready and end the call.”

Residents appeal for gov’t intervention
The abduction has heightened tension across Dong, where residents say kidnappings have become frequent. District Head Adagwom Kaze Nyam and community leader Nenfort Clifford appealed for urgent government action and increased security presence to protect lives and property.
Community figures including Mrs. Franca Diwa and youth activist Mildred Bako warned that continued attacks could force residents to abandon the area despite its proximity to Jos city.
According to them, some families have already begun selling their homes and relocating to safer neighborhoods.
Hon. Mark Na’ah, who represents Jos North West in the Plateau State House of Assembly, visited the scene and expressed frustration over the release of suspects previously arrested for similar crimes without trial.
He called for decisive action to curb the growing threat and restore confidence among residents.
Efforts to obtain comments from the Plateau State Police Command were unsuccessful, as spokesperson DSP Alabo Alfred did not respond to inquiries at the time of filing this report.
