Robinson, 22, was arrested on September 12 for the assassination of political activist Charlie Kirk.

Kirk was shot on September 10 during a debate event hosted by his nonprofit Turning Point USA at Utah Valley University.

Police searched for the suspect for nearly two days before arresting Robinson for the crime.

Robinson’s DNA reportedly matched the DNA found on the rifle used to kill Kirk.

He was charged with aggravated murder, which is a capital offense.

Robinson was also charged with felony discharge of a firearm, two counts of obstruction of justice, two counts of witness tampering, and a charge of homicide in the presence of a child.

Gray announced that the state will be seeking the death penalty for Robinson’s alleged crimes.
