FLOUNDERING Sir Keir Starmer is in “shock” at actually being in power and risks leading Labour to a generational wipeout unless he gets “radical”, a top Labour peer has warned.

Maurice Glasman says the bungling Prime Minister is on course to not just lose the next election but “leave as his legacy the destruction of Labour as a force in British politics.”
Speaking to Harry Cole Saves the West, he instead urged radical action like deploying the Royal Navy to police the English Channel if Labour were to have any chance of avoiding being booted out of office by Reform.
Blighted by scandal, dither and a broken economy, Lord Glasman blasted the first 14 months of the Labour government for a lack of “coherent identity” or “strategic direction.”

He branded that toxic mix as “fatal” to Sir Keir’s premiership as he urged the PM to stop acting like a human rights lawyer and start listening to voters.
And Lord Glasman suggested new Home Secretary Shabana Mahmood‘s hardline approach to law and order and borders could help turn the deeply unpopular Government’s fortunes around by 2029.
In an astonishing broadside, the Labour big beast lamented: “Keir Starmer is, I think, pretty shocked by the reality of being Prime Minister…He comes from a class of lawyers.”
Urging the PM to get real on immigration, send in the Navy to stop the small boats and walk away from the European Convention on Human Rights, Lord Glassman warned: “If he doesn’t do it, he’s gone.”
He warned No10: “Labour can die like the Conservative Party… it’s going to leave as his legacy the destruction of Labour as a force in British politics.”
The peer, who struck up ties with Donald Trump after being the only Labour politician invited to his inauguration, accused Starmer of being unprepared for office.
And he demanded radical steps — tearing up human rights commitments and taking Trump-like actions to close Britain’s borders.
Yesterday the US President announced another month of zero crossings on America’s southern border after tough measures to close the migrant route.
Lord Glasman told the show Starmer has “got to absolutely scrap the ECHR, get out of the Human Rights Act, put the Royal Navy in the Channel, and double down on Ukraine. That’s how he’s got to act.”
He also suggested Starmer tilt toward embracing Brexit properly to shut the borders, as well as reinvigorate Britain’s sluggish economy and industry.
He told Harry Cole: “We haven’t really grasped the possibilities of Brexit. Brexit is a magnificent thing. If you want to believe in your country, believe that we voted for Brexit against all odds, that’s what gives me huge hope in my country. People want democracy. People want sovereignty.”
In a withering final verdict, he said Labour was intellectually bankrupt, adding: “There’s been a complete atrophy of Labour thinking. New Labour Peter Mandelson was the most serious they’ve gone to in the last 40 years. And look where he took us.”
But he threw a protective arm around the PM’s embattled Chief of Staff Morgan McSweeney who is under fire over his role in appointing the controversial Labour grandee to the role of UK Ambassador to Washington.
After Mandelson was sacked last week, McSweeney has faced calls to fall on his sword after he pushed for his key ally to get the gig.
But Lord Glasman warned: “I mean, the idea that Morgan McSweeney is a liability is crazy. He’s really an excellent political operator, and he’s a Labour loyalist. So what I’m saying is, there’s talent in that place.”
He also tipped newly appointed Home Secretary Shabana Mahmood as a future Prime Minister, citing her hardline approach to law and order and immigration.
Tipping her for the top, he said: “Shabana Mahmood is a patriot.”
