Kano state – The Kano State Films and Video Censorship Board (KSCB) has summoned two prominent artists, Usman Mai Dubun Isa and Shehi Mai Tajul-Izzi barely 24 hours after a heated public debate surfaced online.
The board also banned all forms of public debates among praise singers of Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) in the state.

KSCB invited Mai Dubun Isa and Shehi, alongside organisers of the controversial debate to report to the board within 24 hours.
The board described the heated public debate held on Monday, September 15, 2025, as a violation of its operational guidelines.
As reported by Daily Trust, the board’s spokesperson, Abdullahi Sani Sulaiman, disclosed this in a statement issued on Tuesday, September 16, 2027.
The Executive Secretary of the Board, Abba El-Mustapha, emphasized that any form of religious debate in the state is now prohibited unless officially approved by the board.
He explained that the move is aimed at promoting peace, order and legal compliance among entertainers and religious performers in the state.
El-Mustapha also directed all those summoned to appear before the committee to answer questions regarding the incident.
The board warned that organizing such debates without its approval constitutes a breach of the law and could attract severe penalties for those involved.
KSCB also reaffirmed its commitment to regulating the activities of entertainers across the 44 local government areas of the state.
Kano Censorship Board cracks down on tricycle operators
Recall that the Kano Censorship Board arrested tricycle operators using posters and stickers it deems indecent or offensive to public morals.
While the board defends its action as necessary to uphold cultural and religious values, some operators argue the move is harsh and lacks clear guidelines.
The Tricycle Operators Association expressed support for sanitizing the sector but criticized the board for not officially informing them about the clampdown.
Kano suspends Kannywood actress for 365 days
In a similar story, Legit.ng reported that the Kano State Censorship Board prohibited Samha M. Inuwa, a prominent Kannywood actress, from starring in any movie for a year.
The decision was made in response to several complaints from the general public and concerned residents in Kano about her exposing clothes and provocative films.
