He revealed how he got the money back despite not making any attempts to retrieve it.

The Nigerian lawyer, who goes by @egi_nupe___ on Twitter, detailed that the incident happened just hours ago. In his statement, he explained that he wanted to send ₦20,000 to his mechanic but mistakenly sent it to the wrong account.

He said:

“Yesterday, I wanted to send ₦20,000 to my mechanic but mistakenly sent it to a Moniepoint account that I once sent money to.”

Speaking further, he added that he received a call from a woman who identified herself and asked about his bank, then returned the money to him. He explained:

“This morning, I got a call from a lady who said she is a POS vendor and that she saw ₦20,000 on her terminal. Seeing that it’s from OPay, she decided to call to confirm.”

He added:

“When I told her I mistakenly sent it, she said she would send it back to me and she did.”

He called the individual an honest person while also thanking OPay, as he believed the mobile banking app facilitated the return of his money. He added:

“We still have honest Nigerians. Thank you OPay!”

While an individual found his story hard to believe, he fired back with proof. The individual, identified as @Moinmi, claimed the lawyer lied and that his statement was untrue, writing:

“This is not true, because the number of the sender is not visible on Moniepoint.”

Dismissing the claims, the lawyer backed up his story with evidence, writing:

“Do you want to take her number and call her to confirm? Probably she will explain how she got my number from you? And you add to the ₦5,000 that I sent to her?”

“Some of you just come here to say rubbish things uninvited.
