I used to date men in their 40s & 50s before ditching them for sex with lads half my age, it’s not just down to stamina

A SEX columnist, 40, has revealed why she has ditched dating men in their 40s or 50s and now prefers men half her age.

Australian dating columnist Jana Hocking said she previously harped on about preferring older men, but said she has now had to “eat a big ol’ slice of humble pie.”

Glamorous Jana wrote on the Daily Mail: “It was one too many bad dates with depressing divorcees that finally broke me. Somewhere between splitting the bill over cheap wine (‘divorces are expensive!’) and listening to another rant about an ex-wife, I realised I’d become their therapist.

“Bro, I can see why she didn’t want to sleep with you.”

In a bid to try something new, she’d said yes to a date with a 27-year-old “nepo baby” from a “famous Champagne family.”

Despite previously avoiding younger men, she said it was “the most magical date” of her life.

REAL DEAL

She added: “God, it felt good to be alive again, with someone who wasn’t complaining about his bad back, or looking at his watch because of a looming bedtime.

“The next morning, somewhere between my espresso, a bit of fondling and a mild hangover, it hit me: maybe the problem isn’t me. Maybe I’ve just been dating the wrong generation.”

And it’s not just Jana who is enjoying the benefits of dating a toyboy.

Bumble reports a rising trend of women showing interest in younger partners, noting that many view these men as “more open, fun and emotionally available.”

A study from Zoosk indicates that 31 per cent of women openly favour dating younger men, while research by Ipsos suggests nearly half of single adults are open to being with someone at least a decade younger.

And stars such as Madonna, Cher and Kris Jenner are all open about the benefits of dating down (agewise).

Meanwhile, Hollywood actress Charlize Theron, 50, revealed she’d had “amazing” sex with a 26-year-old man.

The Mad Max star, who was in a relationship with actor Stuart Townsend from 2001 to 2009, said on the Call Me Daddy podcast: “I did just recently f*** a 26-year-old and it was really f***ing amazing.

“I’ve never done that. And I was like, ‘Oh, this is great. OK.”

Jana theorised that some of the benefits of dating younger men are that they weren’t raised in an era where they were told to “toughen up” or “stop crying” and so don’t bottle up their feelings.

The dating columnist admitted that they aren’t all perfect – with some sharing flats with messy housemates or not having lots of disposable cash – however, she said she’d “take that over a jaded forty-something who’s emotionally unavailable and still fighting with his ex over custody agreements.”

She also hit back at people who criticise women for dating younger men saying men have been doing it for centuries – take Leonardo DiCaprio and his string of fresh-faced models, for instance.

Jana said that even the name “cougar” insinuates women are “apex predators” – but in her experience it is the younger men who do the pursuing.

She said younger men are less likely to feel emasculated by a woman’s success, but find it “sexy.”

They also have a “refreshing lack of ego” and aren’t trying to be a father figure, but a partner.

Meanwhile, often they can be more emotionally mature than older men she has chased in the past.

She admitted that the sex is “better” – not just because of stamina, but because they care and aren’t just concerned with their own pleasure.

Brand and Culture Expert Nick Ede has spotted a shift in the dating scene in the world of celebs.

”It’s not been uncommon for Hollywood‘s leading ladies to go for younger men and to be seen as man eaters.

”But that’s completely changed now and stars like Cher, Madonna, Kris Jenner are dating younger men because they can – and they want to.”

Chatting exclusively with Fabulous, Nick said: ”Traditionally, it was the older man with the younger woman.
