The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has announced the expulsion of Nyesom Wike, the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), at its ongoing national convention in Ibadan, the Oyo state capital.
Aside from Wike, others who were suspended from the party included the former governor of Ekiti, Ayodele Fayose, and the former national secretary of the party, Samuel Anyanwu.

The motion for the expulsion of the party leaders was moved by Olabode George, the former national vice chairman of the PDP. His motion was supported by Samaila Burga, the PDP chairman in Bauchi state.
Others who were suspended included the PDP’s national legal adviser, Adeyemi Ajibade (SAN), AbdulRahman Mohammed, George Turner, Dan Orbih, Umar Bature, Austin Nwachukwu, Mao Chuambuwa, and Abraham Ammah.
Bauchi state governor and chairman of the PDP governors’ forum, Bala Mohammed, put the votes forward for it to be adopted by members and ratified the expulsion. It was unanimously adopted.

The development, which was shared by the PDP on its social media page, has started generating reactions from some Nigerians. Below are some of their reactions:
Dr Ray commented:
“@OfficialPDPNig This move to expel Wike, Fayose, and others for anti-party activities is a bold step toward reclaiming PDP’s soul! Their 2023 support for Tinubu and the APC fractured the party—discipline was overdue. But why spare Seyi Makinde?.”
Kendulite wrote:
“Next step is to reconcile the caucuses, bring everyone under the umbrella, there might still be hope.”
Big-Bash said:
“Although it is coming too late but it is commendable. Thanks to Lt A.M Yerima, what the PDP couldn’t muster the courage to do for two years, they have summoned the courage to do so because Yerima has shown them that the man is not as tough as they think.”
Babatunde Odeyemi commended the opposition party:
“For eventually developing the balls to do that, I commend them. I believe that is the beginning of their restoration and consciousness of the power they wield as a party. Nobody is bigger than the party. We hope this will heal some frayed nerves and bring hope.”
Kamaldeen Shoba questioned why Seyi Makinde of Oyo was not suspended:
“It’s impossible to expel Wike without expelling @seyiamakinde, who was also involved in the same anti-party activities… no be juju be that.”
