Kaduna, Kaduna state – Ismail Auwal, a public affairs commentator, has said Nuhu Ribadu, national security adviser (NSA’s) decision to show pictorial evidence of slain terrorists at a recent interactive session was “necessary”.

Legit.ng recalls that Ribadu who spoke at the event organised by the Sir Ahmadu Bello Memorial Foundation at Arewa House in Kaduna, declared that Nigeria was practically under siege before President Bola Tinubu assumed office in May 2023, but the country has since witnessed a major turnaround in the fight against insecurity.

Analyst sees positives after Kaduna event

Commenting on the Sir Ahmadu Bello Memorial Foundation’s forum, which organisers said was part of the organisation’s broader mandate to promote leadership, stability, and prosperity across northern Nigeria, Auwal stated that for the region, the summit was “not just about assessing the federal government, it was a statement of its own agency”.

In a statement shared with Legit.ng, Auwal noted that among others, food prices and insecurity remain challenges, but the meeting in Kaduna state showed that the Tinubu administration “is a listening one and is doing its best to tackle” the problems.

His words:

“The summit, put together by the Sir Ahmadu Bello Memorial Foundation, was, by all accounts, unprecedented. It yielded the big stage for criticism and commendation alike. Ministers had to earn their applause with substance, not slogans.

“For once, governance was not hiding behind podiums or siren-blaring convoys. It was face-to-face with the people.

“It would have been easy to mistake the gathering for another government jamboree. But you only needed to sit in the crowd, to listen to the raw questions from the led, to hear the hard numbers ministers were made to justify, to know this was different.”

He added:

“Perhaps the most emotional moment came from the security team. Nuhu Ribadu, the NSA, did not give a generic update. He presented photographic evidence, gruesome, perhaps, but necessary, showing the corpses of high-profile terrorists like Dogo Isah and Kachalla Shekau, neutralised in recent operations.

“He detailed the numbers: 12,100 hostages rescued. Over 30 high-level bandits and gunrunners now face prosecution. The Abuja–Kaduna expressway, once a corridor of fear, is now seeing traffic at night. No longer whispers of victory, now backed by names, places, photos, and prosecutions.”

Ambode pledges loyalty to Tinubu
