The new speaker, Alfred, was elected during the plenary session presided over by the deputy speaker, Lami Danaldi-Ogenyi. Hon. Alfred represents Makurdi North State Constituency
As reported by The Punch, the new speaker is one of the four members suspended for attempting to remove the former speaker.
The house on Sunday, August 24, 2025, resolved to lift the suspension on the four members.
