Ugwunagbo, Abia state – 65-year-old popular entertainer, Mrs Nwandinma Dickson, widely known as “Nwayi Garri,” has passed on after she slumped during a performance in Abia state.
The tragic incident occurred on Monday, August 25, 2025, during an August meeting in Ugwunagbo LGA of the state.

As reported by The Punch, “Nwayi Garri” was scheduled to perform at the high-profile event, where the First Lady, Priscilla Chidinma Otti, was supposed to be in attendance.
According to eyewitnesses, the entertainer slumped in the middle of her display Many audiences initially mistook the incident for part of her act and continued clapping and cheering.
They later realise a few minutes later that she was unresponsive.
“At a time. she stood still and people were clapping thinking it was part of her dance moves. She fell down, and people clapped, but when she could not continue with her entertaining moves, people approached her and only to find out that she was foaming from the mouth.”
The Mayor of Ugwunagbo LGA rushed her to the hospital, where she was pronounced dead on arrival by medical personnel.
Family members who spoke on condition of anonymity said that the late enetertainer had initially expressed reluctance to attend the meeting but eventually decided to honour her scheduled performance.

The pastor slumped during a child dedication on Sunday and passed away shortly after as efforts to revive him failed.
The district church secretary of EYN has reacted to the pastor’s unexpected demise with a touching Facebook post.
