Amid growing insecurity threatening lives and property in Adamawa state, the state police command has launched an awareness campaign on explosive safety for scrap dealers and scavengers.
The command urged members of the public to promptly report any discovery of suspicious objects across the state.

Security officials said the initiative was designed to address public safety concerns as cases of explosive-related incidents continue to pose risks.
Focus on public education
Speaking during the campaign, the officer in charge of explosive ordnance disposal, chemical, biological, radiological and nuclear (EOD–CBRN), CSP Francis Ojajah, emphasized the importance of educating participants on the dangers of explosive materials.
He said:
“There are dangers attached to explosive ordnance, which if not avoided, will destroy their lives and business and such may lead to a serious economic situation. I urge you all to be vigilant in all you do for a better sustainable state.”
CSP Ojajah also warned scrap dealers to avoid using materials that could attract security investigations, stressing that such practices threaten the safety of the state.
Police commitment to safety
Speaking to Legit.ng correspondent, the Police Public Relations Officer, SP Suleiman Yahaya Nguroje, ANIPR, on behalf of the Commissioner of Police, CP Dankombo Morris, PSC, reinforced the Command’s commitment to safety.

He stated:
“We want to emphasize on the need for scrap dealers and scavengers to remain vigilant, to avoid handling of suspicious metallic objects, and promptly report discoveries to the nearest police formation.”
Nguroje further noted:
“We are committed to protecting the lives and properties of the citizens of the state because that is our sole responsibility as security, and we have pledged to do it with all diligence and determination to ensure that Adamawa State is completely safe for everyone.”
He added:
“We will continue to make sure we educate the public on the necessary dangers, risks and precautions needed to be taken on issues and businesses that will affect their livelihood and growth. That is why the police command is in each locality to enable the public report any issue.”
Call for cooperation
The commissioner of police, through his spokesperson, encouraged participants to always reach out to the police on any discovery of suspicious materials.
Nguroje concluded:
“Securing Adamawa State is our priority and we also plead with the public for maximum cooperation as we work towards safeguarding ourselves as citizens and preserving lives and properties for our good.”
Over 500 suspects arrested in Adamawa
Earlier, Legit.ng reported that the Adamawa state Police Command, through determination, teamwork, and community partnership, under the leadership of Commissioner of Police Dankombo Morris Falings, made significant progress in the ongoing battle against crime.
The command successfully apprehended 567 suspects involved in various violent and exploitative crimes. This sweeping wave of arrests has brought hope to families.
