Senator Rabiu Kwankwaso, the former governor of Kano and the national leader of the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP), has dismissed the claim that he has submitted an intent form to become a member of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), or any other political party in the country.

The former governor made the comment while reacting to his imminent defection from the NNPP to the APC. He added that he has not made any submission to any political party regarding his defection.

He then urged the public to stay informed on matters relating to him and his camp, adding that the proper channels should be monitored for his political moves.

His statement has started generating reactions from some Nigerians. Below are some of their reactions:

Isah Muaaz called on the former governor to connect the state with the centre:

“Kwankwaso, the Kano people deserve better than this endless obsession with who is defecting and who is not. For the first time in history, our state has been completely sidelined by the federal government, with not a single major project to show. Kano youths are crying for jobs, farmers are suffering, industries are dead, yet your priority is petty politics and party gossip. What Kano needs now is leadership that will fight for its rightful share at the centre, not a politician chasing shadows while the state is left behind.”

Onyeudo challenged the former governor to mention the party he was referring to:

“Why did you not mention APC if you’re really serious? This statement can also be interpreted as you denying joining ADC. If you’re really serious, why didn’t you mention the name of the party?”

Hamma threatened Kwankwaso with opposition:

“Oga, you owe no one any explanation, just move if you want, but be assured you will have a serious opposition by supporting Tinubu in Kano.”

Olatunji warned the NNPP chieftain:

“In politics, which I know you’re a general, late decision-making may most likely put u at a disadvantage. You strike the deals when you’re most needed; delay is dangerous. NNPP influence can’t go beyond Kano and some votes in Jigawa (APC will have significant votes in 2027).”

Carlo Gambino commented:

“You are not getting that VP slot from Shettima, but you’ll still be useful to APC & Bola Tinubu by remaining on the ballot; you’ll help them divide votes in Kano & Jigawa.”

Analyst speaks on Kwankwaso’s fate
