Online donations are pouring in after the murder of Charlie Kirk, who was allegedly killed by Tyler Robinson.

His murder sparked outrage on social media as his supporters condemned the development.
Kirk was a major conservative figure and the founder of Turning Point America, an organisation he uses for public engagement on American campuses.
His supporters, sympathisers and followers started making online donations after he was murdered.
So far, over $2.8 million (about N4.2 billion, according to online converter, USD Currency Rate Today) has been raised, according to the New York Post, quoting Fox News Digital. The money was raised through GiveSendGo, a fundraising platform.

GiveSendGo co-founder and co-CEO Heather Wilson:
“GiveSendGo has always been a place where people can immediately respond to crises. Within hours of Charlie’s tragic death, friends and supporters had set up a campaign. The fact that it took off so quickly shows just how deeply his life impacted people and how urgent the desire was to support his family.”
She said people responded quickly when the tragedy struck, and that raising funds was one of the ways of offering hope.
Her words:
“What we’re seeing is that people want to respond quickly when tragedy strikes, and crowdfunding has become one of the primary ways they do that. We always remind ourselves that behind every campaign are real people who are hurting. Our responsibility is to provide a safe and secure platform for people to rally around one another in times of need.”
She noted that the platform also has a button for people to offer prayers if they do not have the funds.

She said:
“When people feel powerless in the face of tragedy, giving becomes a tangible way to express love, solidarity and care. We also have a prayer button right next to the give button. People who can’t give financially are still able to share hope, encouragement and prayer with the family, and that outpouring has been just as, if not more, moving than the dollars raised. It is exactly what Charlie stood for.”
