The game, played at Arsenal’s iconic Hale End training ground, was a fast-paced affair from start to finish.

Chelsea’s youngsters gave Arsenal plenty to think about, but Nwaneri’s movement and ability to find space made the difference.

According to Arsenal Youth, he opened the scoring early with a close-range finish, added a second after linking up brilliantly with teammate Joshua Sesay, and completed his hat-trick late on to secure the win.

With performances like this, Nwaneri is quickly building a case for a place in Arsenal’s first-team plans in the coming seasons.

The 18-year-old midfielder has become a crucial member of Mikel Arteta’s first team for the 2025/26 season, and came on against Nottingham Forest on Saturday when Martin Odegaard got injured.

The Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) will no doubt be taking note as they look to convince Ethan to represent the Super Eagles at senior level, despite already featuring for England’s youth teams.

Superstars like Ola Aina, Alex Iwobi, Ademola Lookman, Semi Ajayi, and Bright Osayi-Samuel are some of the current Super Eagles players who ditched England to represent Nigeria.

The NFF will be hoping to convince Ethan and Emerson to take the same path by dumping England to play for the Super Eagles in the near future as the battle for their allegiance continues.
