Five mega celebs who own epic cars but can’t drive them

WHEN you’re a multi-millionaire, you can pretty much buy any motor your heart desires – and often several.

We’ve seen some eye-watering collections from the rich and famous over the years.

But plenty of stars own luxury, fast or rare cars they can’t actually drive because they don’t hold a driving licence.

Learning takes time, after all, and celebs likely face the same driving test backlog as everyone else.

Here are some famous names who simply can’t drive.

Kylian Mbappe

He’s young, good-looking and one of the greatest footballers of his generation – a World Cup winner who leads the line for France and Real Madrid and earns in five minutes what I make in a year.

So, naturally, Kylian Mbappe has a garage full of tasty wheels, including a £400,000 Ferrari Hybrid SF90 and a Cadillac Escalade, as well as a BMW i7 gifted to him thanks to Madrid’s link to the German manufacturer.

The only problem is the Frenchman doesn’t have a licence to take these incredible cars for a spin.

In 2023, Mbappe admitted he hadn’t got round to his driving licence, saying it wasn’t a priority while he was playing.

He said: “It’s one of the downsides of being successful early, I missed simple things like having a driver’s licence.

“I think everyone has one. For many people a licence is an obligation, but it wasn’t for me.

“Although it is synonymous with independence, I had my independence early on because I had drivers at my disposal. It has never been a priority.”

It has been claimed that his former club, French side PSG, offered to arrange driving lessons for him to help him pass his test, but he didn’t take up the opportunity.

Noel Gallagher

In Britain, one of the best-known petrolheads who doesn’t actually hold a licence is Oasis frontman Noel Gallagher.

He once said he never managed to get one after quitting lessons in the 1990s when fans would mob him mid-lesson.

Despite that, the Mancunian has owned some classy motors, from a 1967 Mk2 Jaguar that set him back over £100,000 to a maroon-red Bentley Turbo R.

Adding insult to injury, Gallagher has even picked up a six-month driving ban for speeding offences linked to a car registered in his name – even though the licence-less musician’s driver was the one behind the wheel.

He isn’t the only Gallagher without a licence either as brother Liam hasn’t got one, but that didn’t stop him splashing out on a Bristol 603 coupe.

Mariah Carey

With Christmas looming, Mariah Carey is no doubt bracing for the annual streaming windfall from All I Want for Christmas Is You.

And she could easily put some of that towards a shiny new motor – because the singer is the ultimate passenger princess.

Despite being one of the biggest names in music, she’s never passed her driving test and is usually chauffeured wherever she goes.

And she’s hardly short of cars, as during her six-year marriage to Nick Cannon the pair often swapped motors as gifts, leaving Carey with a Rolls-Royce Phantom Coupe, a custom pink Porsche Cayenne, a Maserati Quattroporte, a Maybach 62 luxury saloon and a custom matte-black Range Rover.

Ricky Gervais

Ricky Gervais is another star who doesn’t hold a driving licence, and he told The Graham Norton Show he doesn’t see the point – saying that he enjoys a drink and you can’t drink and drive.

But while he doesn’t drive himself, he has owned cars in the past – once spotted getting out of the passenger side of a Mercedes MPV.

And according to Carmoola, he once appeared in an advert for Audi and was given an A3 as part of his compensation.

Perhaps most amusingly, he was reportedly offered the Top Gear job after Jeremy Clarkson was kicked off of the BBC motoring show, which he turned down as he imagined being able to drive would be an expectation for the show.

Cardi B

Cardi B is famed for her luxury car collection – reportedly including several Lamborghinis, a Fiat 124 Spider and a customised Rolls-Royce.

But she’s another celeb without a driving licence, seemingly happy to merely pose with her motors for Instagram rather than drive them.

She’s also owned a Bentley Bentayga, a Mercedes‑Maybach S‑Class and a Chevrolet Suburban, and once admitted on James Corden’s Carpool Karaoke that she’s got a thing for pricey cars.
