Fulham manager Marco Silva has explained why Super Eagles attacker Samuel Chukwueze did not make his debut against Leeds United on Saturday.
Chukwueze joined Fulham on a season-long loan with an option to buy from Italian Serie A giants AC Milan on the summer transfer deadline day.

He arrived in London late on the deadline day to complete the formalities of the deal and immediately flew to Nigeria for the international break afterwards.
He was an unused substitute in the first match against Rwanda, which ended 1-0 in favour of the Super Eagles thanks to Calvin Bassey’s controversial goal.
The former Villarreal star played only 12 minutes in the 1-1 draw against South Africa in Bloemfontein, a result which dealt a blow to his country’s World Cup hopes.
Why Chukwueze didn’t feature for Fulham
Fulham returned from the international break and squeezed out a 1-0 win against Leeds United thanks to Gabriel Gudmundsson’s 94th-minute own goal.
Brazilian winger Kevin came off the bench and played 14 minutes, but there was no sight of Chukwueze, who did not even make the matchday squad.
Alex Iwobi played 76 minutes, while Calvin Bassey completed the 90 minutes to help Fulham record their first win of the season, as noted by The Guardian.
Marco Silva has now explained why the Nigerian attacker did not feature, even though his fellow summer deadline-day arrival came off the bench.
“Before they go in, they need to understand what they have to do in each moment of the game and all that, they need time,” he told Fulham’s official website.
“I will give you one example. It was almost impossible for Chukwueze to be involved in this game because he doesn’t even know the names of all his teammates.”

He reiterated that the Super Eagles star arrived late in the window and immediately flew to Nigeria. He had only two training sessions after returning and couldn’t have been considered.
“That’s an example of why players need time to understand everything around them, to settle, even something simple like finding a house instead of living in a hotel for two or three months,” he added.
Chukwueze will be in contention for minutes when Fulham make a short trip across West London to face Brentford at the Gtech Community Stadium on Saturday.
