Osimhen and Lookman missing the World Cup is sad – journalist

Nigeria Sports journalist Chibuike Chukwu said it would be a disaster if 2023 CAF Player of the Year, Victor Osimhen, and the reigning CAF POTY Ademola Lookman miss out of the 2026 FIFA World Cup.

Speaking in an exclusive comment with Legit.ng, Chukwu said Nigerians should hold the NFF responsible for the situation the country have found themselves.

Chukwu wondered if the players would still be at their peak by the time the next World Cup (2030), should they miss out on the upcoming tournament. He said:

“So sad that the reigning African Footballer of the Year and his predecessor may end their careers without attending FIFA World Cup.

“Hopefully they would still be in form in the next four years because this year (ahead of next year’s world cup) is gone. NFF should shoulder the blame for so many reasons.”

“I am more pained about Victor Osimhen, Ademola Lookman, Calvin Bassey, Ola Aina, Chukwueze not playing the World Cup in their prime.

“This is so painful because they will all be 30+ by 2030 and may not play again😥.”

“By the time we get to the 2030 FIFA World Cup…
