The Speaker of the Benue State House of Assembly, Aondona Dajoh, has formally resigned from his position, citing the decision as one made “in good faith and in the best interest of the state.”

His resignation was confirmed in a letter dated 24 August 2025, which he personally signed and made available to Channels Television.

Aondona Dajoh resignation letter

In the letter titled Resignation As The Speaker, Benue State House of Assembly, Dajoh stated:

“I write to resign my position as the Speaker, Benue State House of Assembly, effective today, August 24, 2025.

In the wake of Dajoh’s resignation, speculation surfaced regarding a possible impeachment attempt. However, the Benue State Governor, Hyacinth Alia, distanced himself from any such claims.
