Ogidi, Anambra state – Unknown gunmen broke into a funeral service in Ezi Village, Ogidi, Idemili North Local Government Area, Anambra state, resulting in the deaths of four people.
In addition, 15 more people were listed as injured following the fatal assault.

Anambra: Attack occurs during burial ceremony
In a viral video making the rounds, the gunmen had stormed the burial ceremony on Thursday, September 11, and tragically opened fire on the attendees who were present to mourn the dead.
Legit.ng gathered that some of the victims of this attack were seen receiving treatment at an undisclosed hospital.
Police speak over deadly attack
The Anambra Police Command responded by acknowledging the incident and saying that initial investigations connect the attack to a conflict between rival cult factions.
Ogidi Division police officers, under the command of the Divisional Police Officer, promptly dispatched men to the scene, according to spokesperson Tochukwu Ikenga.
Speaking still, Ikenga noted that about sixteen expended cartridges were recovered at the scene as evidence.
Police urge residents to assist in investigation

According to the spokesperson, the police department is presently conducting a covert investigation to find, track down, and capture the offenders.
CP Ikioye Orutugu, the Commissioner of Police, vehemently denounced the attack.
As a result, he assured citizens that the command is still dedicated to purging the state of criminal activity and violence associated with cults.
