Kaduna Man Drags Daughter’s Boyfriend To Court for Squandering Late Wife’s Funds

Kaduna state – Mr Ishaku Joseph has taken his daughter’s boyfriend, Yunana Zock, before a Customary Court in Kaduna state.

In his explanation, Joseph narrated that his daughter’s lover is allegedly misappropriating his late wife’s death benefits.

The prosecutor, ASP Jeremiah Amfani, told the court on Monday, September 15, that Zock deceived Joseph’s daughter, Emmanuella.

He explained that his daughter’s lover withdrew ₦13 million, which had been paid out as the death benefits of Joseph’s late wife.

Amfani explained that the money was deposited into Emmanuella’s account in 2023, as she was listed as the next of kin.

He added that the matter was reported to the police, who carried out investigations before it was brought to court, Vanguard reported.

Daughter testifies against boyfriend

Giving her testimony, Emmanuella alleged that the accused took her ATM card without her knowledge and made the withdrawals.

Speaking further, she maintained that she never authorised him to access the funds, which were meant to support the family after her mother’s passing, The Cable reported.

The accused insists money was shared

In his defence, Zock, however, admitted to having transferred ₦11.9 million into Emmanuella’s account but argued that she had agreed to give him ₦2 million to start a business.

He further claimed that while they were in Abuja, they had agreed and shared each other’s ATM PINs, suggesting mutual trust.

Zock then presented an Opay account statement, which the court admitted as an exhibit, and indicated that he would call one witness in his defence during the next hearing.

The presiding judge, Ms Patience Musa, adjourned the case until 30 September for continuation of the defence.

However, Jibuno denied that he fathered Ezinwa, insisting that he had made it clear when the child was born in 1984 that the pregnancy was not his. Despite his refusal to accept the child in 1984, Jibuno said his mother went back, took the child, and began raising him.

According to a clip circulating on social media, the young man is identified as Jibuno Ezinwa, while his ‘father’s name is Jibuno Jossy. According to Ezinwa, his mother told him clearly that was Jibuno was his father. He said he grew up in Jibuno’s family house, which is why he also takes the name as his surname.
