Major blaze erupts at car dealership as smoke billows through air and public told to ‘stay away’

DOZENS of firefighters were called after a major blaze broke out at a car dealership in an industrial estate.

Plumes of smoke could be seen rising across Bangor in Northern Ireland last night as locals were urged to close their windows and stay away.

Eight fire crews were scrambled to the Balloo Industrial Estate at around 3.30pm yesterday.

Firefighters doused the flames in water and battled throughout the night to bring the blaze under control.

Local cops advised residents to avoid the area and keep windows closed as smokes billowed through the air in County Down.

In a statement on social media, Fusco Vehicle Sales confirmed the blaze had been brought under control.

The firm said: “Everybody is safe and well and we will be in touch with all of our customers following advice and guidance from the fire brigade.

“We really appreciate everybody’s understanding and patience.”

Alex Easton, an Independent MP for North Down, called on locals to “stay away” as firefighters tackled the flames.

He said: “I would strongly urge members of the public to stay away from the Balloo Industrial Estate area…

“… to allow the emergency services to carry out their work, and to keep access routes clear.

“I pray that no one has been hurt. My thoughts are with everyone involved, including those working to bring this incident under control.”
