Man Caught with Canadian Loud, Colorado, Other Lands in Police Custody

Police operatives in Enugu State have arrested a 43-year-old man during a raid on a suspected drug hub at Amaowere-Nike.

The operation, which was based on intelligence, was carried out by officers of the Unity Division in collaboration with Forest Guards on September 19 at about 7 a.m.

Enugu police seize cannabis in morning raid

According to the state police spokesperson, SP Daniel Ndukwe, the team stormed a container shop believed to be a notorious center for drug sales and apprehended the suspect, identified as Elias Ukachukwu Agu.

Items recovered from the scene included fourteen cups and twenty-five sachets of a substance suspected to be Canadian Loud, six sachets of Colorado, a weed crusher, and two packets of Rizla. Both Loud and Colorado are potent strains of cannabis.

Ndukwe said the suspect confessed during interrogation that he was involved in selling illicit substances. He added that investigators are conducting further checks and that Agu will be charged to court once the process is completed.

Commissioner of Police Mamman Bitrus Giwa commended the operatives for the successful raid and warned residents, particularly youths, to stay away from drug use and trafficking.

He assured the public that the command remains committed to rooting out criminal networks and urged citizens to continue sharing credible information that can assist law enforcement.

The Enugu state police command has recently increased surveillance and intelligence-led operations across the state in response to growing concerns about drug abuse and related crimes.

Giwa reaffirmed that similar operations would continue as part of ongoing efforts to make communities safer.

Convicted drug dealers should wash toilets

Earlier, Legit.ng reported that the Attorney-General of the Federation and Minister of Justice, Lateef Fagbemi, has urged a review of Nigeria’s sentencing guidelines to mandate community service for convicted drug offenders.

Speaking at the commissioning of 46 operational vehicles for the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) in Abuja on Wednesday, Fagbemi said such measures could serve as an effective deterrent against drug-related crimes.

He suggested that offenders sentenced to hard labour should serve their punishment within their communities, performing tasks that would carry a strong message to others considering similar crimes.

Lady nabbed in Kogi with cash, drugs

Earlier, Legit.ng reported the Kogi state police command has arrested a 23-year-old woman, identified as Charity Williams, after she was allegedly caught with more than two million naira in cash, a pistol, ammunition, and hard drugs during a hotel raid in Okene Local Government Area.
