He said:

When he was asked to go home, Omolomo stayed put, insisting the interviewers should tell him why he failed.

He wrote:

“As the next candidate was called in, I was about to leave, something in me turned back. I asked the interviewer, an old white man. Sir, why was I rejected?”

He told the head of the interviewers that he, too, may not be able to answer the questions he was asked.

He said everyone was shocked by his audacity. He asked the interviewer which of the questions he failed and he was told it was the last one.

Omolomo said:

“I smiled and told him: “If it was the last question, then let me ask you as an interviewer and let’s see your reply.” Everyone was shocked. The head of operations was there and I didn’t know. She’s a young Black woman, although she caught the conversation midway. She walked toward us and asked what happened then the white man briefed her. She then asked me: “Why do you think he should take back your documents and hear you out?”

“I replied: Because if I were to interview him right now, he wouldn’t give better answers than I’ve given. Or if you want, I can ask him the same questions, and let’s see if his answers would be any different.’ She smiled nd told him to continue with me but she stood & watched us.”

Omolomo said he eventually got the job.
