WITH the weather taking a turn and Autumn fast approaching, if you’re concerned about how you’ll get your laundry dry, fear not, we’ve got you covered.

And don’t worry, you can say goodbye to your tumble dryer, as it turns out there’s a better way to dry your washing when you can’t rely on sunny days.
Luckily for you, there’s a more affordable way to get your wet washing dry – and it’s perfect if you don’t have space to hang washing all over your home.
Thanks to a handy freestanding gadget, getting your clothes dry when the weather is grim could be much simpler – and even better, it’ll also keep clutter to a minimum.
It comes after one woman took to social media, desperate to ask for the most cost-effective way to get laundry dry during wet weather.

“I hang washing outside, can’t beat it…it’s just for winter.”
Following this, Facebook users eagerly raced to the comments to share their thoughts and advice on how to get their washing dry and many of which suggested a 4p an hour gadget that works in under 60 minutes.
One user beamed: “I have a dehumidifier with Laundry Mode. It’s fabulous.
“Some items are dry in less than an hour. I like to hang laundry outside when the weather is good, but for indoor drying this is brilliant.
“I’d never be without one now. I don’t have space for a tumble dryer.”
At the same time, a second simply penned: “Last year I brought a Meaco dehumidifier. It’s just fab. Only use the tumble dryer for sheets and towels.”
Whilst a third commented: “Dehumidifier, wish I had bought one years ago for drying the washing.”
Not only this, but someone else chimed in: “Dehumidifier, brilliant and cheap.”
How to dry wet washing inside, in winter
Drying rack or airer
Load up your airer with wet washing and place near a heat source – like a radiator or direct sunlight – to help distribute air around your clothes.
Dehumidifier
Plug in a dehumidifier in a room with clothes hanging to dry quickly and prevent dampness and mould. Many now have a laundry setting.
Tumble dryer
A tumble dryer can heat moisture out of wet washing, saving time and can be used in any weather.
Heated airer
Many brands and shops now sell heated airers for as little as £30. The racks heat through electricity and can speed up drying time.
Open a window
Choose a spare room or unused room for keeping your washing and crack open a window, but close the door behind you.
Using curtain poles
Hang wet washing on radiators then hook them onto curtain poles with radiators below. The heat will rise and dry the items. Alternatively, if you have a shower curtain pole, hang your clothes in the bathroom with a window open.
According to the experts at Meaco, dehumidifiers are a “low-cost” way to get washing dry in an instant.
A spokesperson from Meaco explained that modern dehumidifiers typically cost around 4 to 7 pence per hour to run.
They are said to “provide a quiet and efficient way to manage condensation, damp and laundry drying without adding significantly to bills.”

Not only this, but by keeping air dry, heating systems do not need to work as hard to reach a comfortable temperature, helping lower heating bills.
Meanwhile, the spokesperson recognised: “Drying clothes on radiators or in unventilated rooms raises humidity, which leads to condensation and mould.
“Tumble dryers are effective but expensive to run. Dehumidifiers with a laundry mode offer a cheaper, quieter and gentler alternative.”
At the same time, Chris Michael, CEO of Meaco, explained: “We know rising electricity prices are a real pressure on budgets.
“We’re proud that our Meaco Arete dehumidifiers protect households from damp and help save money on heating bills.”
