Politicians Who Attended Baze University After Losing Power and Became Lawyers, Full List Emerges

Some Nigerian politicians, who, after losing the grip of power and being out of office, found solace in studying law at the Baze University, Abuja. They eventually attended the Nigerian Law School and subsequently became members of the Nigerian Bar Association (NBA).

The Baze University is reportedly owned by Yusuf Datti Ahmed-Baba, a former House of Representatives member and ex-Nigerian Senator in 2003 and 2011, respectively. He was the vice presidential candidate of the Labour Party in the 2023 election.

In November 2023, the Council of Legal Education imposed a five-year moratorium on law admissions at the Baze University for consistently violating the number of students that should be admitted to study law in the school.

Amid the ban, some prominent politicians have undertaken a law degree at the institution. The politicians are listed below:

Dino Melaye

Melaye was the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) governorship candidate in the 2023 election in Kogi, and one of the law alumni from the Baze University.
