Tambuwal, Malami visit Atiku

Joining Tambuwal in the visit to Atiku’s residence was Abubakar Malami, the former Attorney General of the Federation and Minister of Justice under the administration of the immediate past President Muhammadu Buhari.

While referencing the recent questioning of Tambuwal by the EFCC, the former vice president accused the President Tinubu administration of using the anti-graft agency to intimidate the opposition, adding that the coalition has come to stay.

His tweet reads in part:

“We will be unrelenting in defending the rights of every Nigerian being harassed by anti-democratic forces of the Tinubu-led APC administration, was my assurance to Senator Aminu Waziri Tambuwal and former Attorney General of the Federation, Abubakar Malami, today.”

Why EFCC invites Tambuwal

Tambuwal, currently serving in the 10th National Assembly as a senator representing Sokoto South, arrived at the headquarters of the EFCC in Abuja on Monday at about 11:30 am, where he was being questioned by the EFCC’s interrogation team.

A source within the anti-graft agency, who did not want to mention his name, disclosed that the senator was being questioned over the suspicious transactions during his tenure as governor of Sokoto. He said it was in connection with an unauthorised withdrawal of public funds.

The source further disclosed that the agency has been investigating the former governor for a long time. Dele Oyewale, the spokesperson of the commission, declined to speak on the development until the completion of the interrogation.

Senator Tambuwal is a prominent figure in the leading opposition, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP). He was the governor of Sokoto from 2015 to 2023. He had earlier served as the speaker of the House of Representatives.

Why coalition can’t sack Tinubu in 2027

Legit.ng earlier reported that President Bola Tinubu has been described as an unshakable candidate in the face of the Atiku Abubakar-led coalition movement.

Atiku’s coalition, which recently adopted the ADC as its political platform, was said to have shown no seriousness in winning the 2027 election.

Bisi Afolabi, a political analyst, posited that many of the coalition leaders are nursing presidential ambition, which may affect their chances in the next election.
