Strictly’s Shirley Ballas reveals ‘changes’ to launch show just hours after Thomas Skinner storms out of press day

STRICTLY Come Dancing star Shirley Ballas has revealed changes to the programme’s launch show just hours after Thomas Skinner dramatically stormed out of the show’s press launch.

Shirley is the head judge on the programme and appeared to confirm that changes were afoot ahead of the series’ launch in just over a week’s time.

The pro dancer turned TV star spoke out on The One Show to reveal there would be some subtle changes to the way things are done and shared her intrigue to see if the audience were able to pick up on them.

Shirley teased that some elements of the show would suddenly disappear as part of the revamp.

She said on the BBC One magazine show: “There are some minute changes, so I’ll be interested to see if the audience can spot those.

“Things that you will expect to be maybe there and there, are not suddenly there and there.

“They’re here and here, that’s all I’m saying.

“We’ve got small changes here and we’re going to have all those iconic shows.”

Shirley’s admission comes just hours after the show was rocked by yet another controversy just days before the series kicks off.

Former The Apprentice candidate Thomas Skinner stormed out of a press launch with journalists after snatching a female reporter’s mobile phone.

It was the first time in the show’s history that a Strictly star has not completed the press conference – which sees the contestants talking about their excitement about the show starting.

Thomas was paired with footballer Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink for the interviews but left him when he stormed out of the room.

Strictly shock as Thomas Skinner STORMS OUT of launch in furious rage

An insider said: “It was incredibly strange and no one could quite work out what was happening.

“He just seemed to take exception to something and leave.

“BBC staff said he’d had to take a family call but that didn’t explain why he’d chosen to grab a member of the press’s recording device before exiting.

“There were a lot of bewildered looks on the faces of those present with everyone frantically wondering what had unfolded.”

Despite his conduct and outburst, it is understood that he will be staying put on the programme with a source exclusively telling The Sun: “Thomas will film the launch show later on today.

“After the incident yesterday he returned to rehearsals too. He is totally committed to Strictly.”
