Mum-of-five Kayleigh, 27, was immediately concerned and booked a GP appointment after finding the pea-sized lump on January 30.

Kayleigh initially believed the lump was a cyst and made a connection to cancer straight away.

But when Delilah-Rai’s dad took her to the doctors, her lump was not thoroughly examined, Kayleigh claims.

Instead, the parents were accused of harming the tot and she was referred to hospital for a non-accidental injury.

Kayleigh told BirminghamLive: “When we first found the lump, I was worried as it’s always said about lumps potentially being cancerous.

“I found the lump on the evening of January 30 after bathing her. I rang the GP the following morning to get her booked in.

“From what he (her dad) says, they didn’t really examine the lump, and were quick to assume it was an injury caused by one of us.”

The following day, she was sent to the Russells Hall Hospital in Dudley, West Midlands.

A CT scan revealed that Delilah-Rai had a paranasal cystic lesion and she was referred to an ear, nose and throat (ENT) specialist.

Despite doctors promising Kayleigh she would hear back in one week, she claims that the referral was never made.

After weeks of chasing up, Delilah-Rai was eventually booked in to see the ENT doctor in April.

But during the lengthy three-month wait, the lump continued to grow on the tot’s face.

Following the ENT appointment, Delilah-Rai was then referred to Birmingham Children’s Hospital.

But Kayleigh was initially told her baby would be forced to wait for another three months before she could be seen.

To speed up the process, she sent pictures of the quick growth on Delilah-Rai’s face and secured an appointment just days later.

After undergoing scans in May, the family were eventually called in to discuss the findings a month later.
