Tragedy as two nurses killed after being hit by car while trying to rescue injured kangaroo on way to birthday party

TWO nurses have died after being hit by a car as they tried to rescue an injured kangaroo.

Close friends Sarala Khadka and Areeza Suwal were on their way to a 30th birthday party when they were fatally run over on a freeway in Melbourne, Australia.

The pair stopped to help an injured kangaroo when they were struck by a car that couldn’t see them in the dark.

The nurses had worked together at Alfred Hospital and were described as inseparable.
