‘We need to go’ shoppers scream as M&S launches huge 99p fashion sale with jeans, fancy blouses & going out tops

SHOPPERS are racing to M&S after a viral TikTok revealed the retailer has launched a huge 99p fashion sale on jeans, fancy blouses, and going-out tops.

A tidal wave of pure delight is sweeping the UK, as fashion fans take to social media with one collective, desperate plea: “We need to go.”

The M&S Riverside Outlet TikTok page shared a video with the caption: “This is not a drill. ALL SALE ITEMS NOW 99p!!!

“Get these amazing bargains now at Riverside Outlet before they’re gone.”

The video has since gained over 440,000 views, as shoppers frantically head to stores to grab the goods.

Racks of brand-new clothes have been marked down to impossibly low prices, including elegant blouses, stylish patterned shirts, and the perfect going-out tops.

You can even find a whole shelf of shorts and jackets for as little as 99p.

The price point feels less like a sale and more like a happy accident.

While the sale originated at the Riverside Outlet, the page explained in the comments that “this sale will be at all M&S outlets,” though it is “subject to availability with our stock.”

It appears the retailer is selling off old stock to make way for the new.

The clearance sale comes just months after M&S experienced a major cyberattack.

In July, the retailer revealed that the hacker groups “Scattered Spider” and “DragonForce” were responsible for the six-week breach, which shut down online shopping and disrupted operations in April and May.

The attack caused click-and-collect services to go down and resulted in the theft of customer information.

While “Scattered Spider” was initially suspected, the attack was confirmed to be a collaboration with the Asia-based ransomware operator DragonForce.

This group creates sophisticated ransomware that locks a victim’s files, a tool reportedly used by a group of young, English-speaking hackers.

These criminals steal data and then demand a ransom to unlock the files and prevent the stolen information from being leaked.

M&S Big Savings

Get ready to save even, because M&S has just sweetened its sale from 50% to an incredible 70% discount.

The retailer, known for its quality pieces, is offering massive savings across some of its most popular fashion items.

While the initial 50% off sale was a great start, shoppers can now find even bigger bargains on everything from clothing to footwear and accessories.

These deals are available both in stores and on the M&S website.

So whether you need new holiday outfits or a dress for a wedding, you could save hundreds of pounds – but you’ll have to act fast before the best pieces are gone.

Is supermarket fashion the new high street?

DEPUTY Fashion Editor Abby McHale weighs in:

The supermarkets have really upped their game when it comes to their fashion lines. These days, as you head in to do your weekly food shop you can also pick up a selection of purse-friendly, stylish pieces for all the family.

Tesco has just announced a 0.7 per cent increase in the quarter thanks to a ‘strong growth in clothing’ and M&S has earnt the title of the number one destination for womenswear on the high street.

Asda’s clothing line George has made £1.5 million for the supermarket in 2023, 80 per cent of Sainsbury’s clothes sold at full price rather than discounted and Nutmeg at Morrisons sales are also up 2 per cent in the past year.

So what is it about supermarket fashion that is becoming so successful?

Apart from the clothing actually being affordable, it’s good quality too – with many being part of schemes such as the Better Cotton Initiative.

A lot of the time they keep to classic pieces that they know will last the customer year after year.

Plus because they buy so much stock they can turn around pieces quickly and buy for cheaper because of the volumes.
