Worried by the ongoing xenophobic attacks in South Africa, the President of the African Union Youth Council (AUYC), Nigeria Chapter, Amb Dr. Temisan O. Louis, has noted that xenophobia as a poison that stalls the engine of Africa’s collective progress.
Speaking with newsmen, Amb. Louis, who is fondly known and regarded as the
Mayor of Africa, and Continental President/Founder of Iconic International Holdings Group, noted that the current xenophobic trends directly contradict African Union Agenda 2063, which is the continent’s strategic framework for inclusive and sustainable development.

He stated that as a leader dedicated to the advancement of the African people, he is deeply concerned over the targeted violence and discrimination against fellow Africans, adding that such actions are not merely local disputes but are direct assaults on the spirit of “Ubuntu”and the foundational principles of the African Union.
“The dream of a prosperous, integrated, and peaceful Africa cannot be realised in an atmosphere of fear and division.
“We cannot speak of ‘The Africa We Want’ while our brothers and sisters are being marginalised or attacked within our own borders,” Amb. Louis said.
The Mayor of Africa maintained that the Agenda 2063 envisions an Africa with a strong cultural identity, common heritage, and shared values, noting that central to this vision is the free movement of people, capital, and goods—a goal currently threatened by localised hostilities.
He also pointed out that as President of the AUYC Nigeria chapter, youths are the primary drivers of this agenda and must lead the charge in fostering tolerance rather than discord.
Louis disclosed that as leader of Iconic International Holdings Group, he has spent years building bridges where others see walls, adding that the organisation’s commitment to African unity is evidenced by a track record of high-impact summits across the continent, including creating a platform for emerging leaders from all 55 AU member states to collaborate on economic solutions.
“Promoting the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA) by connecting entrepreneurs across regional blocs, and using the “Iconic International” platform to celebrate the diversity of African heritage, as well as proving that our differences are our greatest strength.”
He called on the South African government, the African Union Commission, and grassroots community leaders to implement immediate measures to protect foreign nationals and educate the public on the benefits of continental integration.
Amb. Louis said that as a distinguished diplomat, philanthropist, and business mogul, he remains a pivotal figure in African diplomacy, dedicated to youth development and the socio-economic integration of the African continent.
“Iconic International Holdings Group will continue to host summits that promote the ‘One Africa’ philosophy.
“We invite all stakeholders to join us in turning the page on xenophobia and writing a new chapter of shared prosperity,” Amb. Dr. Louis concluded.
